Masaza Cup 2025 Opener Rescheduled to June; Official Date, Venue & Time
The Masaza Cup 2025 opening match has been rescheduled.
Earlier this year, as Buganda’s Minister of Youth, Sports, and Arts, Robert Serwanga Ssaalongo was unveiling the Kingdom’s Sports activity calendar, he stated that the Masaza Cup opening game will be held on July 5, 2025. However, Boom Uganda has learnt that after several meetings at Mengo, it has been agreed to reschedule the opening match to an earlier date.
This publication exclusively learnt that the Masaza Cup 2025 opener will happen on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Accordingly, the 2025 campaign will climax on November 1, 2025.
In the 18-team tournament, each Ssaza (County) will play 10 games at the group stage on a home and away basis, 8 teams will advance to the quarterfinals and play a home and away fixture that will see 4 teams proceed to the semifinals.
The best 4 will face off in a 2-leg home and away fixture, with the 2 winners on aggregate qualifying for the final.

Masaza Cup is an exceptional source of football talent in Uganda, where only about 450 players who don’t play in the 2 tiers of the national league get a chance to showcase their skills.
Over 104 games are played in 4 months and fill up any local stadium with ease, promoting unity amongst all people living in the geographical location of Buganda.
The winners will walk away with a prize of UGX 12 Million, the Runners-up received UGX 9 Million, with Third Place pocketing UGX 7 Million.
