Alien Skin Joins Politics as DF Names Him Secretary for Arts and Culture
In a surprising turn of events, popular Ugandan singer Patrick Mulwana, better known by his stage name Alien Skin, has made his official entry into politics.
The artist has been appointed Secretary for Arts and Culture in the newly formed Democratic Front (DF), a political party led by Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, the Member of Parliament for Nyendo-Mukungwe.
The announcement was made during the Democratic Front’s delegates’ conference held in Masaka, where the party unveiled its full leadership lineup in preparation for the 2026 elections.
Speaking during the event, Mpuuga explained that Alien Skin was selected due to his unique ability to connect with the youth and his influence in blending modern music with traditional cultural themes. He noted that the artist’s growing popularity among Uganda’s younger population makes him an ideal fit for a role focused on revitalizing cultural pride and expression.
“I am thrilled to present this young talent known to many as Alien Skin as the DF’s secretary of arts and culture today. His main task will be to motivate and promote cultural involvement amongst our youth. We are grateful that you have signed a contract and committed to this role,” said Mpuuga during the unveiling.
While reactions to the appointment have been mixed, some political observers see it as a bold strategy to bridge politics with Uganda’s vibrant entertainment scene. Others remain skeptical about whether Alien Skin, known for his eccentric personality and controversial statements, will adapt effectively to the structured world of politics.
