Winnie Nwagi Reveals Humble Beginnings, Reveals Own Shocking Secrets

Celebrated Ugandan singer Winnie Nwagi, known for hits like Malaika, has opened up about her challenging life before fame, revealing that she once earned as little as 700 Ugandan shillings a day.
Speaking about her journey, the singer, whose real name is Nakanwagi Winfred, shared that before pursuing music, she worked as a sales agent for MTN. At the time, she lived in Namasuba, a suburb of Kampala.
During those early days, MTN had recently introduced Mobile Money, and sales agents were tasked with encouraging people to sign up for the new service. Their income was entirely commission-based.
“We were a big team,” Nwagi recalled. “Our job was to move around different parts of the city and convince people to register for Mobile Money. You were given 1500 shillings per registration, but the money was handed back to the company, so you had to work hard to earn.”
She added that many people would often register directly with MTN shops, making it difficult for agents like her to earn a steady income. “There were days I walked away with just 700 shillings,” she said.
Winnie’s life took a positive turn in 2014 when she became the runner-up in the Coca-Cola Rated Nex singing competition. That opportunity landed her a record deal with Swangz Avenue, setting her on the path to becoming one of Uganda’s top music stars.

Spice Diana Acknowledges Witchcraft in Music Industry

Musician Spice Diana has acknowledged witchcraft in the music Industry. The ‘Siri Regular’ singer, while on an interview with UBC’s Calvin The Entertainer on Horizon Vibe, said that the vice is so present in the industry.
Although she doesn’t believe in or practice it, she’s well aware of it. She went ahead to say that it all comes down to how one receives the world.
Spice Diana said that problems are inevitable in life. Therefore, if one accepts this and becomes aware that it befalls everyone in life, they can work and transform their lives. However, if one attributes all their problems to witchcraft, they can end up practicing it too.
“Witchcraft is very real and present in the music industry. I reckon one fab asked me about it, and whereas I don’t believe in it, I know it exists. One has to know that problems are part of life and are natural. So all you have to do is work on yourself for the better, but if you don’t and believe it’s witchcraft, then you’re bound to end up practicing it,” she said.
The Source Management singer added that she doesn’t believe in the practice of witchcraft because she’s a firm believer in God. She added that there are many artists out there doing what they do and to the best of their abilities, but she’s still standing.
And also the fact that she wakes up every day to do what she does, for the past 10 years, it’s all God.
