Dr. Hajjat Kulthum Nabunya, widow of the late Sheikh Muzaata, has publicly announced the end of her marriage with businessman Akram Gumisiriza.

In a heartfelt statement, Kulthum revealed that despite trying to save their relationship, she could no longer continue living in pretense.

Kulthum married Akram in 2022, nearly two years after losing her beloved husband, Sheikh Muzaata, in 2020. She explained that the marriage began with hope and a need for companionship. However, things didn’t go as planned.

“I started seeing red flags from the very start,” she wrote in her emotional letter.

“We both know our relationship has changed. I no longer feel seen, heard, or supported in the ways that matter most.”

Although she did not go into details, Akram has been involved in multiple scandals. He was once caught in a compromising situation at a lodge, an incident that was quickly hushed up. Additionally, controversy arose when reports emerged that he had allegedly made inappropriate advances toward Pretty Nicole, a young social media influencer whom Kulthum had taken in as her adopted daughter.

Kulthum emphasized that her decision was not made lightly and had been preceded by deep reflection, prayer, and efforts to reconcile.

“This is not about blame… I want this process to be as respectful and cooperative as possible.”

She concluded by noting that her family, along with Sheikh Abdul Rahaman Serunjoji, would handle the divorce process.

“Though this chapter ‘Marriage’ has ended, I will always value the moments we shared and the lessons we’ve learned,” she added.

The news has sparked a wave of public support, with many praising her for standing firm and choosing peace.
