Kampala Woman MP Hon Shamim Malende Mourns Her Father Sad news coming in indicate how the Kampala woman MP Hon Shamim Malende is currently mourning the death of her father. Taking to her X page, the MP posted the update to her followers and the general public. "Lost my biological father JAMAL-AHMED SEBUTA MALENDE. Inna lilaahi wa-inna lilaahi rajuun," she posted a picture of herself seated alongside her now deceased father. More information regarding the burial process will be communicated in due time. This comes at a time the MP too herself has been battling health complications. Malende has spent almost half her 5 year parliamentary term in hospital. Her health deteriorated in the past couple of months requiring her to be transported to Kenya for urgent medical attention. However, she seems to be on the road to full recovery and is expected to be in pole position to reclaim her parliamentary seat come next year.

MP Medard Lubega Sseggona Names Himself as NUP's Next President - Causes Uproar

Busiro East’s member of Parliament, Hon Medard Lubega Sseggona, has caused uproar amongst supporters of the Makerere Kavule-based opposition political party.

This is after he declared himself the next leader after the incumbent, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.

While addressing a congregation in his constituency, Ssegona said that they agreed Kyagulanyi would rule for only two terms. And having gained leadership in 2020, it means that he’s halfway through the said two terms.

“When Kyagulanyi’s two terms, which we mutually agreed upon as the leader of NUP, come to a close, the next president will be from Busiro, and that will be me,” Ssegona stated.

However, this has not been well received by many supporters, with many describing these statements as undermining Bobi Wine and the party. Besides, Ssegona is a close friend of Hon Mathias Mpuuga, who was sacked by Bobi Wine last year over corruption allegations.

Therefore, many have advised Ssegona to go and seek leadership in Mpuuga’s newly formed political party, the Democratic Alliance.
